Resumen
The Pharmacovigilance System was applied in older adult patients with arterial hypertension, hypertriglyceridemia, and diabetes of the San Luis Riobamba Health Sub-Center September 2013-February 2014. For the development of this research we used: tools such as review of medical records, medical control, survey; retrospective prospective, longitudinal, qualitative, quasi-experimental, applied study method, obtaining results to interpret, tabulation, tables, graphs, discussion. For the selection of the sample, we delimited the result of 60 adult patients aged 65 years and older, of which 40 patients suffer from hypertension, 10 patients with hypertriglyceridemia, 10 patients with diabetes; the same who were treated with specific medication for each pathology aiming at: prevention, early detection, timely treatment of RAMs, alert about risk situations, promote rational use of drugs, know the safety profile of drugs, administer safer therapies. The RAMS discovered in the treated patients were immediately notified to the physician, providing timely follow-up, providing education to the patient on issues related to their disease, rational use of medications. We were able to eliminate the RAMS, optimizing the pharmacological treatment and compliance of the medication with the therapeutic effect. Detecting 11 RAMS affecting; central nervous system 46%, skin 18%, renal system 18%, digestive system 18%. Pharmacokinetics and properties of drugs are altered with age, absorption, distribution, decreased renal function and decreased metabolizing capacity. It is necessary to establish the permanent application of the pharmacovigilance system, train personnel, strengthen pharmaceutical care programs with specifically trained Biochemists-Pharmacists.
