In order to comply with the environmental law, the OASIS dairy industry located in the parish of Quimiag, requested the design of the wastewater treatment system, which is the subject of the study. For the development of this research, the wastewater was characterized based on physical, chemical and bacteriological analysis, using a composite sampling that considers the different processes and flows of cheese production, the results of the analysis establish that the wastewater has a high content of TSS, BOD and COD. The treatment consists of clarifying the water based on screening, coagulation-flocculation and sedimentation operations. The engineering calculations performed for this system establish the following design variables: for a flow of 10 m3 per day, a 0.04 m2 channel area, a 0.04 m2 manual cleaning screen system to remove coarse solid waste, a 4.492 m3 homogenizing tank for mixing water and flocculant, and a 4.492 m3 settling tank for sludge separation. With the implementation of this treatment system, an average efficiency of 98% will be obtained, based on the following parameters of greatest incidence; BOD with a reduction of 97.1%, COD of 96.8%, TSS of 92.6%, Fats and Oils of 99%. This treatment system sized for the treatability of this dairy company's wastewater complies with the current TULAS standard and will guarantee water for reuse, mainly in agriculture.
