dc.description.abstract | Research for the comparative study of hypoglycemic activity of nettle (Urtica dioica), watercress (Nasturtium officinale) and walnut (Juglans regia) extracts in rats (Rattus novergicus), with induced hyperglycemia. Glycemia levels were determined using Roche ACCU-CHEK Active Glucose Meter, for which a blood sample was taken from the rat tail vein puncture technique. We used 14 rats (9 females and 5 males) weighing 204-298g of 7 weeks normoglycemic, producing hyperglycemia by sucrose administered 150 g/mL orally on an empty stomach for 12-16 hours for 15 days, increasing glycemia by glucose overload. 2 mg), two for negative control (sugar solution 150 g/mL), three for group 1 (nettle at 50%), three for group 2 (watercress at 50%), three for group 3 (walnut at 50%), and one called white. The study was carried out at the Espoch Biotherium; t studens was applied. After 15 days, it was established that the extract of walnut is better than glibenclamide on the 15th day of treatment, lowering glycemia levels to 70 mg/dL, while the nettle and watercress extract reduces glycemia but does not reach normal values, which is between 60-90 mg/dL for the rats. Acute toxicity was performed working with doses of 1,500 mg/kg of nettle, watercress and walnut. The treatment lasted for 14 days, doses administered, did not produce death of animals, proving that the extracts investigated are not toxic, no adverse reactions were observed. With these data obtained, it is recommended to use phytopharmaceuticals for control and/or treatment of DM, with active principle of vegetable origin. | |
