Resumen
In the laboratories and the Biotherium of the School of Biochemistry and Pharmacy - ESPOCH. An investigation was conducted with the objective of testing the hepatoprotective activity of dandelion in rats with hepatotoxicity induced with carbon tetrachloride. Dandelion extract was used for quality control and phytochemical screening. It was experimented on rats divided into 3 groups: GA, GB, GC who received the extract, at a concentration of 100%, 50% and 25% respectively for 9 days, on the eighth day carbon tetrachloride was administered. ASAT and ALAT tests were performed and the livers were extracted for histopathological analysis. The ANOVA test was used for data analysis. Flavonoids, alkaloids, phenolic compounds, and bitter principles were found in the phytochemical screening. In the ASAT and ALAT test in the GA group were elevated by an average of 6.81% of the normal value; GB increased by 51.71% and GC by 67.37%. On histopathological examination GA had 40% liver destruction, GB 90% and GC 95%. In the statistical analysis it was found that transaminases are in direct proportion to hepatic destruction. Dandelion is hepatoprotective since in the transaminase tests and in the histopathological examination a slight hepatic damage was evidenced with high doses of the extract. It is recommended to elaborate a pharmaceutical form based on dandelion to be used as a coadjuvant treatment in people with hepatic diseases.
