dc.description.abstractA drinking water treatment plant was designed for the Mis Frutales Agroindustrial Processing Company, located in the parish of San Luis, in the city of Riobamba. Based on the experimental scientific method, we proceeded to analyze the water that enters the Mis Frutales Agroindustrial Processing Company, we were able to determine the parameters that are outside the allowable limits, and then propose the most effective system of purification, which was evaluated in the Laboratory of Technical and Microbiological Analysis of ESPOCH, being the most appropriate. Laboratory materials and equipment such as spectrophotometer and sample collector bottles were used. The treatment will be able to eliminate hardness, alkalinity, total and fecal coliforms, which are the parameters that are outside the limits, for which a storage system was structured (V= 3.6 m3), the deionization system will be based on a twin tank system, used for the elimination of cations (V= 0.0075m3) and the elimination of anions (V= 0.012 m3) and a disinfection system (V= 2m3), all this was designed with engineering calculations. It is concluded that this treatment is effective since it is capable of eliminating hardness, alkalinity and coliforms from the water, so that it is capable of being used in the company's processes. It is recommended that the personnel in charge of the water treatment plant should not neglect the regeneration of the resin in the deionizers, since these are the fundamental part of the treatment, and care should also be taken with regard to the dosage so that the water is free of microbial load.
