Resumen
The producing- parameter comparison and determination between Cobb 500 and
Ross 308 line broiler chickens with and without feed restriction were carried out in
the farm "La Esperanza" from Santo Domingo City. 800 chickens were studied
with four treatments. Data were combined with 5 repetitions. Besides, a completely
randomized design with a bi-factorial arrangement was used in this investigation.
The Cobb 500 line got the best results in the first repetition when comparing the
following producing parameters in the genetic lines with and without feed
restriction: weight at 42 days (2505,92 g), weight gain (2465,57 g), feed
conversion index (1,61), mortality index (15,50%) and European efficiency index
(315,52). On the other hand, in the second repetition, a similar behavior was
observed since Cobb 500 chickens got the best reports with feed restriction
specially in feed conversion (1,57), that is why, it is inferred that 1,57 kilos of food
are necessary to get 1 kilo of poultry. Ascites was not found in both Cobb 500 and
Ross 308 lines due to a suitable handling, environment conditions and feeding.
The Cobb 500 chicken with feed restriction got the highest benefit-cost parameters
in the first and second repetition because the valúes were from 1,15 to 1,25
respectively. Therefore, 15% and 25% profit is inferred. It is recommended to work
with Cobb 500 line in tropical-wet weather because its producing parameters are
the best.
