Resumen
At the Skin Tanning Lab of the Cattle and Livestock Science Faculty of the ESPOCH the comparison of the Traditional Tanning System versus an Ecological Tanning System in goat skins modeled under a completely at random design (DCA) with bi-factorial arrangement, in 3 consecutive trials, 2 treatments and 8 replications per treatment was carried out. The results indicated that with the traditional tanning a better stress (161.3 N / cc), a good elongation (55.04%) and a high distension (8.49mm) which are the features necessary for shoe manufacturing, are achieved. Moreover it is shown that with the traditional skin tanning fullness (3.96 points) and roundness (4.17 points) are jimproved which makes the sheepskin a material saturated with chromium between the collagenic fibers which does not deform with the daily use, and can produce a slight problem to the user. The best benefit-cost was evident in the skins tanned in the ecological way (1.40), as it reported a 40% gain higher than that provided by the banking entities of the place. It is therefore recommended to tan the goat skins in the ecological way as upon not using the sulfuric acid in the beaking of the skins the environment is preserved and clean technologies in the leather production processes are applied.
