It was designed and implemented a free statistical software for academic support to teachers and students of the fourth level of the career of Computer Statistics of the Faculty of Sciences of the Polytechnic School of Chimborazo (ESPOCH), the software was implemented with the NetBeans IDE 6.5 java program, it was done using statistical techniques such as formulas for descriptive and inferential analysis, example: the measures of central tendency, dispersion, distribution, comparison of means, simple linear regression, correlation. For the realization of the software, the software engineering methodology was applied, the cascade model, as free software will be available to the user's requirements. A software called SoftEstad v1.0 (Statistical Software) was obtained. Obtaining that 90% of the students have facility to acquire the software and its source code, with respect to the other statistical software. The software has different techniques to analyze data and optimize the application of techniques, methodologies and more free software development. With SoftEstad version 1.0 software, a reliable data management has been achieved, data is available when required and it allows to generate several types of data analysis; in a fast and efficient way, for decision making. It is recommended to implement the developed software at all levels of the career in computer statistics.
