dc.description.abstract | The objective of the research was to DESIGN A HORIZONTAL LAMINAR FLOW CHAMBER FOR IN VITRO PLANT PRODUCTION, which was carried out in the Department of Biological Sciences of the Faculty of Natural Resources of the Escuela Superior Politécnica de Chimborazo, to optimize a part of the production process of these plants, since in the future it is desired to undertake an aggressive plan of production of native plants of the zone. For the design, tests were carried out to evaluate the aseptic conditions inside the experimental equipment, by simulating manipulations in culture media, identifying the process variables (equipment), and solving the engineering calculations for the sizing, characteristics and economic budget. In the design, the laminar flow chamber has general measures of 1300 x 750 x 1100 mm (L x D x H), its structure is made of AISI 304 stainless steel and is composed of: a centrifugal fan for the air flow system, a polyester pre-filter of 600 x 30 x 600 mm, ULPA filter 914 x 610 x 66 mm, an ultra violet light system for surface contamination control and decontamination of the working area between operation periods. This equipment design provides a laminar flow of purified air with 99.99% efficiency that travels through the interior zone horizontally, unidirectionally at a nominal velocity of 0.40 m/s and is eliminated through the main front work area of the cabinet providing optimum product protection. I recommend the construction of this equipment for the benefits it provides. | |
