dc.description.abstract | A 25% antifungal gel based on chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla), matico (Aristiguietia glutinosa) and marco (Ambrosia arborescens) was prepared, complying with the physical-chemical quality and stability requirements carried out at the Neo - Fármaco Pharmaceutical Laboratory in the city of Ambato. For this purpose, the quality control of the raw material, fluid extract, product in process and finished product was carried out, complying with all the parameters established in the Ecuadorian Standard of Phytopharmaceuticals. WHO; AOAC (Association of Official Analytical Chemist), and the American Pharmacopoeia XXVIII. Chromatographic and spectrophotometric analyses were applied; stability was determined by Poppe's method, which does not require large amounts of degradation of the active principle to determine its shelf life. The gel without antioxidant (F1) and the gel with EDTA antioxidant (F2) were packaged in plastic and aluminum collapsible tubes, which were subjected to accelerated stability for three months at temperatures of 20, 30 and 40 ºC with a relative humidity of 70%. Presenting parameters of pH, viscosity, extensibility and quercetin percentage for F1 6.44; 54.65 cp; 4.26 mm; 17.75% and F2 6.34; 54.64 cp; 4.3 mm; 17.70%; also showed absence of contaminating microorganisms. From the results obtained from Poppe's method it is concluded that the two gels have a shelf life of 2 years. It is recommended to check the antifungal activity and to advance in the research. | |
