Resumen
The objective of the thesis was to select, through a comparative study between Palo 2.5 and Mondrian 3.0.4, the most appropriate tool for multidimensional analysis and decision making, applied to the Social Programs of the Ministry of Coordination and Social Development of Ecuador Through the Consultancy PROASETEL SA Located in the city of Quito. The research was based on the general scientific method and was used as a development and implementation tool Excel 2003, jdk 6, JPivot, JPalo, Schema Workbench 3.0, NetBeans IDE 6.5, Apache Tomcat 5.5, SQL Server 2005 database server, on The Windows Server 2008 platform. Using comparison parameters of the OLAP Tool, 95% was determined for Mondrian and 85% for Palo, Mondrian being selected as the best option for the development of statistical reports of Business Intelligence that will serve managers and Coordinators of social programs for decision-making. A solution was developed by doing Datamart schemes in which the data will reside for analysis at the level of Views in the Database; Constructing in Cube the Workbench that are logical schemas in which the cached data will reside for its analysis and calculations; Designing web pages and statistical reports of Business Intelligence to exploit the cubes developed in NetBeans; Publishing these applications in the Tomcat server for the use of the users and obtaining to obtain statistical reports in real time. The implemented tool provides better performance for the development of statistical reports, it is worth mentioning that the entire solution was developed with Free Software with the exception of the Database.
