Sterols from the marine sponge Iophon proximun
(1988)
Ten Δ5-sterols, making up 77% of the total fraction, and seven 5α-stanol derivatives were identified from the sponge Iophon proximun. The pattern is similar to that found in related sponges. © 1988.
Alterations in the sterol signature of detritivorous fish along pollution gradients in the Río de la Plata basin (Argentina): From plant to sewage-based diet
(Academic Press Inc Elsevier Science, 2020-05)
In order to assess the impact of sewage pollution on the diet of the strict detritivorous and migratory South American fish, Prochilodus lineatus, 16 sterol biomarkers were analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry ...
Influence of environmental growth temperature on tocopherol and sterol oil concentrations in olive fruit
(John Wiley & Sons Ltd, 2021-11)
Tocopherols and sterols are minor components of virgin olive oils that contribute to oil quality. Based on observations at different geographical locations, it has been suggested that environmental temperature during fruit ...
Early diagenetic alterations of sterol biomarkers during particle settling and burial in polluted and pristine areas of the Rio de la Plata Basin
(Pergamon-Elsevier Science Ltd, 2018-03)
Sources and diagenetic alterations of sterol markers were studied in settling material and sediments near the Buenos Aires main sewer (BA), and at a relatively non-polluted northern site at the Uruguay River (N). Vertical ...
Influence of environmental growth temperature on tocopherol and sterol oil concentrations in olive fruit
(Wiley, 2021-10)
BACKGROUND: Tocopherols and sterols are minor components of virgin olive oils that contribute to oil quality. Based on observations at different geographical locations, it has been suggested that environmental temperature ...
Assessment of historical fecal contamination in Curitiba, Brazil, in the last 400 years using fecal sterols
(Victocria, 2014-07-11)
A 400-year sedimentary record of the Barigui River was investigated using fecal biomarkers and nutrient distribution. The temporal variability in cholesterol, cholestanol, coprostanol, epicoprostanol, stigmastanol, ...
On-line derivatization with on-line coupled normal phase liquid chromatography-gas chromatography using the through oven transfer adsorption desorption interface: Application to the analysis of total sterols in edible oils
(Elsevier Science, 2012-07)
In the present work on-line derivatization is combined with on-line normal phase liquid chromatography-gas chromatography (NPLC-GC) to analyze total sterols in edible oils. The method uses the TOTAD interface with an ...
Identification and functional characterization of the CYP51 gene from the yeast Xanthophyllomyces dendrorhous that is involved in ergosterol biosynthesis
(BioMed Central, 2015)
Background: Xanthophyllomyces dendrorhous is a basidiomycetous yeast that synthesizes astaxanthin, a carotenoid
with great biotechnological impact. The ergosterol and carotenoid synthetic pathways derive from the ...
Characterization of sources and temporal variation in the organic matter input indicated by n-alkanols and sterols in sediment cores from Admiralty Bay, King George Island, Antarctica
(2014-09)
The Antarctic continent is one of the most protected areas on the planet, but is dynamically responding to environmental change on a global scale. Change in the air temperature may affect the organic matter production in ...
