| dc.description | Después de una breve introducción referida a la presencia de principios activos naturales con acción alucinógena, se presenta una reseña histórica concerniente al uso de la "iboga" en ceremonias rituales del culto Bwiti señalándose detalladamente sus efectos estimulantes y psicodélicos. También se efectúa una descripción botánica de la especie, con el detalle de diversos nombres vulgares provenientes de voces indígenas y del hábitat de la misma. Bajo el subtítulo "Composición química" se tratan los distintos alcaloides del grupo de la ibogaína, voacangina y voafilina, presentándose diversas hipótesis biogenéticas y distintas vías para su síntesis. Por último se indican los efectos de ibogaína, su principal alcaloide, sobre el SNC y el sistema cardiovascular, así como referencias a su toxicidad y biodisponibilidad. | |
| dc.description | After a brief introduction about the presence of natural active principles with hallucinogenic effects, a historical review on "iboga" use in Bwiti worship rituals is made, pointing out its stimulating and psychodelic effects. A botanical description of the species is also made, including folk names and habitat. Under the subtitle "Chemical composition" are considered the alkaloids of ibogaine, voacangine and voafilirie group, hypothesis on their biogenesis and principal ways of synthesis. Finally, the effects of ibogaine on central nervous and cardiovascular systems are considered, so as its toxicity and bioavailability. | |
