| dc.description | Los flavonoides son importantes constituyentes de la dieta humana y se encuentran en vegetales, frutas y bebidas como el té y el vino. Son compuestos fenólicos de baja toxicidad, aunque se ha informado que poseen algunos efectos mutagénicos in vitro. Presentan numerosas actividades biológicas (antibacteriana, antifúngica, antiviral, antiagregante plaquetaria, antiespasmódica, inmunomoduladora, hepatoprotectora, etc.) Pero el mayor interés en los últimos tiempos parece estar centrado en la actividad antiproliferativa, antioxidante y antiinflamatoria de estos compuestos y sus metabolitos. Por sus propiedades biológicas podrían cumplir una importante función protectora frente a las enfermedades cardiovasculares y coronarias y contra ciertas formas de cáncer. | |
| dc.description | Flavonoids are important constituents of human diet and are commonly found in vegetables, fruits and beverages such as tea and wine. These are phenolic compounds with low toxicity, although some mutagenic in vitro effects have been reported. They present various biological activities such as antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, platelet antiaggregation, antispasmodic, immunomodulatory, hepatoprotective, etc., but the major interest has been centered recently on the antiproliferative, antioxidant and antiiflammatory effects of these compounds and its metabolites. The flavonoids, due to their biological activities, could exert an important protective effect against cardiovascular and coronary diseases and against certain types of cancer. | |
