Resumen
This article is about the active minorities in the Movimento Tradicionalista Gaúcho of Rio Grande do Sul (MTG-RS).In particular, it observes, analyzes and problematizes how these minorities remain active in the MTG, being influential in the Movement as agents for the preservation of local culture, even though the MTG identifies, as genesis, the “traditionalist gaucho” in a stereotyped way and far from the true identity of these minorities. The starting point of this paper was the author's empirical experiences in the traditionalist milieu, whose considerations were investigated through a Public Opinion Survey, which had the participation of 333 traditionalist respondents. To strengthen the analyzes and the final product, historiographical notes were made regarding the social plurality existing in the formation of Rio Grande do Sul; on the formation of the Traditionalist Movement; and as to the connection of these matters with world history. With the POP, the historiographical review and the author's empirical considerations available, an audiovisual product entitled “Meu Eu do Sul” was created, where, in documentary format, 10 people from the traditionalist representing different identities, were interviewed, revealing their experiences and feelings involved in the practice of traditionalism, were encouraged to reflect on the practice of MTG, as an institution, on the collusion and reproduction of situations of discrimination and prejudice.
