Resumen
In this work data of hydrolysis of soybean hull and straw and data related to sugar fermentation and distillation were collected in order to enable energy analysis for bioethanol production. For hydrolysis, a multipurpose equipment was used for processing high pressure agricultural biomass. With the collected data, the objective was to calculate the energy spent in each stage for production of second-generation ethanol at laboratory and pilot scales and evaluate the energy viability of the routes used in the study. Energy analysis is needed to define whether biofuel production is profitable by the selected technological route of hydrolysis using subcritical water. Mass and energy conservation laws were applied in the calculations with the aid of mathematical softwares. The analyzes were performed for three different cases, two at laboratory scale and one at pilot scale. Both cases at the laboratory scale demonstrated to be unfeasible. In the case of the pilot scale, this demonstrated to be viable if 78 hydrolyses per day are performed, using reactors with internal volumes above 106 mL and 178 mL, for the condition of higher yield and lower yield respectively.
