Resumen
The volume of information and the development of information and communication technologies have caused a revolution in society and in the way individuals seek, produce and appropriate information (analog and digital). From the beginning, information is the fundamental element for society and for social relations, because it transmits ideas and makes possible the construction of knowledge. Advances in technology have altered the way information is produced and transmitted, leading to the emergence of the information society. The digital age has sprung up the network society and new generations, such as digital immigrants and digital natives. In this way, the challenge of the information society is that the subjects possess adequate skills, knowledge and skills within this new electronic and virtual environment. This work sought to highlight the characteristics of the post-industrial society, as well as the importance of the school library and the librarian in the learning process in schools in the context of this context established from the second half of the twentieth century. It was carried out a qualitative research of bibliographical character of the publications of the area of Librarianship and Information Science on these subjects. He investigated the changes that occurred in school libraries during the process of technological evolution, aiming to discuss the informational skills that are increasingly called. It is concluded that school libraries and librarians - mediators - should be included in the pedagogical planning of school institutions in order to improve and enhance the learning of this new generation that deals with information differently from previous generations. Information literacy has also come to have a more significant prominence with a view to the process of searching, analyzing and using information in a more critical way.
