Resumen
In our current society, with the evolution of technologies, projects often
require specific properties, such as high rigidity and greater durability associated
with low specific density, for example. The study of composite materials begins to
be carried out to be able to develop these materials with desired properties.
Numerical analysis using the Finite Element Method (FEM) is a method that can be
used in studies to analyze the behavior of composite properties. In this context, the
present study aims to carry out simulations through the FEM of specimens (CPs),
with and without geometric discontinuity, and subjected to low-velocity impact. The
first laminate was made of composite materials with E-glass fibers, and the second
was a hybrid composite with Kevlar/49 and glass/E fibers. All configurations of the
numerical models were submitted to a four-point bending test to analyze and
evaluate their mechanical behavior in comparison with the experimental results
found in the literature, proving the feasibility of the FEM. At the end of the study, it
was concluded that the computational modeling of the FEM of laminated
composites of glass/E and hybrids with Kevlar/49 and glass/E used in this work was
effective in simulating four-point bending tests for the two composites, with and
without discontinuity, and also for the post-impact LHKV model.
