Resumen
Piles are the most used foundation system components in vertical buildings. In the city of Natal/RN, residential buildings present as the main solution the use of bored piles, followed by continuous flight auger piles and precast concrete piles.
The objective of this paper is to perform a cost analysis for four types of pile foundations: dry dug, continuous flight, precast concrete and steel piles. To perform this analysis, it was considered the implementation of a 19-story building in a sandy soil region of Natal/RN, in order to obtain the loads acting on the piles and the geotechnical parameters of the soil in question.
In order to determine the load capacity of the piles, twelve SPT borings were performed and using established methods such as Aoki-Velloso (1975), Decourt-Quaresma (1978), Teixeira (1996) and Alonso (2008) it was possible to find lateral and tip resistance values for the four types of piles. Therefore, the admissible load for the piles was compared with the catalog load predicted in literature, being considered the smaller load between the two situations.
Therefore, the four types of foundations were dimensioned according to the load map of the projected building. From the foundation dimensioning, a quantitative survey was carried out to arrive at the global cost for the four models and thus compare them.
