The present work intends to analyze the process of monitoring the goals and action plans of the Institutional Development Plan (2014-2018) executed by the managers of the Rectory of the IFRN, to verify the quality of the information for the decision making of the strategic actions. The Institutional Development Plan-PDI in federal educational institutions is a recent fact and is in the process of development. Public organizations have great ease in establishing plans, but in practice, have difficulties in implementation and control. Faced with the need for effective management in public institutions, it is necessary to adopt administrative techniques brought from private organizations to public ones, with emphasis on the monitoring of institutional actions. The methodology used was focused on exploratory and descriptive studies, considered as mixed (qualitative and quantitative). For the data collection, a questionnaire structured as an instrument was elaborated by the researcher and applied to a sample of 10 (ten) managers of the rectory of the IFRN of first and second hierarchical levels. He also composed a structured interview with the project monitoring coordinator in order to gather more practical information on how monitoring is carried out in the institution and how these managers work with this information. The results obtained, when submitted to the analysis revealed in the research that the managers do not yet have an adequate monitoring system, it was verified that some managers need to improve their internal control systems when they present the management reports, they can deliver a document with more precise and detailed information and, if necessary, a result-oriented cultural change to make institutional actions more efficient.
