Resumen
This academic work investigates the contribution of children's literature to childhood in a school environment. The way we relate to reading and learn to read in childhood determines the uses we will give it in adulthood. Reading plays a fundamental role in the training of readers since early childhood education and continues in the other stages of the school process. During the study, we opted for bibliographic research, taking advantage of the literature review available from several sources that discuss the theme already mentioned, where the main authors consulted were Aguiar (2007), Amarilha (2009), Jouve (2002), Smith (1989) and Palo (2006). The readings carried out demonstrate that the promotion of literary reading at school is a fertile path for the formation of critical, creative and autonomous readers. However, the presence of literature in the school requires strategies that put work with the word in the foreground, thus valuing a meaningful, playful and coherent learning to the imagination of children in this stage of life.
