This Research is part of an investigation by the research seedbed “Sustainable Urban Development”, adopted as a degree modality for obtaining the title of architect. This is a previously made analysis of the New Urban Agenda (NAU), and the implementation of the development goals for Latin America, taking as starting point targets cities focus on people and inclusive spaces where culture and identity are key part to raise awareness about the place and sense of belonging.
Santo Tomas university campus in Tunja, is recognized for its wide expanse of green areas and sports spaces for the recreation and enjoyment of them, however, the problematic evidenced refers to students of first semesters as main users of these spaces, however, the use is more limited by students of last semesters who only walk in the respective buildings of the campus for academic reasons.
Occupation strategies are proposed based on a model applied to the university public spaces of the campus, to do so, the methodology is addressed, using data collection techniques such as direct observation and surveys. It is structured in three stages: theoretical collection, diagnosis of university public spaces, ending with the recommendations from the application of the model of occupation of public space.
The problem identified is answered according to the analysis of the characteristics and variables of these scenarios, in order to generate identity and appropriation of these by the student community of the university.
