Resumen
This paper analyzes the relationship between the Economic Growth and Income Distribution in Colombia during the period 1977-2007. The hypothesis proposed by Simon Kuznets U inverted, proving that a positive relationship in the first stage of growth, and that higher growth rates creates greater inequalities in personal income, considering that these increases in economic growth will be reflected in long-term welfare gains for individuals, changing their tendency to negative at the next stage. High economic growth reflects less inequality of income among the Colombian population. This situation is confirmed by the econometric estimation and dispersal behavior of data between inequality, measured by the Gini coefficient and economic activity, as measured by GDP per capita.
