This project monograph about Textile Surface Design attempts to include aspects of northeastern Brazilian culture: the textile handicraft and the tissue of calico. Those elements, allied to the appreciation of the national style profile, can constitute factors of resizing of the culture in the fashioning field of print making, object of this research. This way, it is searched a reconnaissance of the Brazilians of those cultural references explored in the view of Design Surface. For this, the collection and rescue of relevant expressions to the northeastern region are proposed in the research as a way of avoiding the stereotypes and generate a differentiated meaning, in view of the cultural appreciation as the main element to the development of stamping in that context. This search resulted in the creation of two lines of print with reference to chintz fabrics and crafts crochet, Maria Chita and Maria Bonita respectively.
