This paper proposes to discuss the importance of environmental information, so as to show its essentiality in today's society, whose population lacks awareness and interest in ecological issues. It was also sought to demonstrate environmental education as an instrument of consolidation of social politicization and full citizenship, in which it enables the social development of a critical, reflexive and participatory perception. The justification for this research came about because of the increasing environmental crisis witnessed, as man increases his power to intervene in the natural environment in order to maximize his profits, and consequently unleashes unprecedented destruction in nature, these ecological imbalances shake not only sustainable development but, above all, continuity on planet Earth. Faced with this natural collapse, the need arises to find alternatives capable of facing this sad scenario. Thus, we seek to measure the importance of information in ecological protection and popular participation, describing environmental education as a tool to consolidate the development of social politicization and full citizenship. The overall objective of the study was to assess the importance of environmental information as a social politicizer and collaborator in the full exercise of citizenship, describing environmental education as a true vector of information and strengthening of this transformational process. The specific objectives sought to demonstrate the importance of information for ecological protection and popular participation. It also sought to explain the importance of environmental education with an extraordinary instrument of consolidation of social politicization and the development of the exercise of full citizenship. Regarding the methodology, it should be noted that the research was developed in a qualitative way, using bibliographical and doctrinal research, consisting mainly of books, journals, scientific articles, theses, dissertations and other publications that address issues related to theme. Initially, in light of the concepts of environmental information and information, its relevance as an instrument of social emancipation and popular participation stands out. It analyzes the Brazilian legal framework with regard to the right to information, explaining its main positive legal instruments in Brazil. Environmental information is studied as a presupposition of the principle of popular participation in environmental protection, as well as exposure of existing procedures that ensure the exercise of citizenship, in order to protect and preserve nature. It relates the great value of environmental education as an instrument that transmits environmental information, in which it acts as a legitimate social transformer, thus fostering the understanding and apprehension of knowledge of contextuality and multiplicity, contributing decisively to the full exercise of citizenship. In view of the above, it is concluded that environmental information is an essential instrument for social emancipation and the exercise of citizenship, since it builds a state of critical awareness and discernment capable of acting not only on ecological protection, but also on issues that affect all aspects of human coexistence. And, undoubtedly, environmental education is an excellent tool for disseminating information and materializing this perception of human and environmental knowledge and that Environmental Education is an excellent instrument for disseminating information and consolidating this human awareness and environmentally friendly.
