ABSTRACT: With the purpose of evaluating the variation of the arterial pressure (AP) with regard to the serum glucose level
control in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, the determination of the arterial pressure (AP), the basal insulin
and the glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) for the methods of auscultation of the sounds of Korotkoff, ELISA-DRG,
and microchromatography affinity, HELENA GLYCO-Tek, was carried out, respectively. Forty patients were
evaluated (20 normotensive and 20 hypertensive) with type 2 DM diagnosis, of both sexes, with less than 5 years
of evolution of the metabolic illness and of ages ranging between 26 and 58. There were no differences statistically
significant between the values of basal insulin (ts: 0.13; p>0.05) of the group of the normotensive patients with
regard to the hypertensive group. On the other hand, the values of HbA1c showed significant statistical differences
(ts: 5.75; p< 0.001) between the two groups; whose average of the percentage value was significantly lower for
the group of the normotensive patients (X : 6.69±2; 10.28 ±1.93, respectively). The patients with type 2 diabetes
mellitus with bad control of their base pathology showed a significant increase of their arterial pressure, which
suggests an association between this metabolic condition and the establishment of their hemodynamic state of
arterial hypertension.
