Resumen
The aim of this study was to verify the kinetics of lactate production and removal in slalom kayak athletes, K1 category, during official competition. Eight male athletes (22,6 ± 4,3 years) participated of the study. For the analysis of lactate, 25μL of capillary blood were collected. The kinetics of lactate removal was performed before the warm-up (Pre), just after the competitors exit from the river (Post 0'), 5 (Post 5'), and 20 (Post 20') minutes. The results demonstrated a significant increase in lactate concentrations (9.8 mmol/l, 9.4 mmol/l and 6.6 mmol/l) at 0', 5' and 20' post respectively, with values of P<0.01. The findings indicate that after 20 minutes the values of lactate reduced significantly (P<0.05) compared to Pre exercise, suggesting that the athletes would indicate good metabolic conditions for the second turn of the race. 35 2 425 439 Akca, F., Munirouglu, S., Anthropometric-somatotype and strength profiles and on-water performance in Turkish Elite Kayakers (2008) International Journal of Applied Sports Sciences, 20 (1), pp. 22-34. , Korea Bogdanis, G.C., Effects of physical activity and inactivity on muscle fatigue (2012) Frontiers in Physiology, 3, pp. 2-15. , Lausanne, may Bishop, D., Physiological predictors of flat-water kayak performance in women (2000) European Journal of Applied Physiology, 82 (1-2), pp. 91-97 Bishop, D., Physiological predictors of flat-water kayak performance in women (2000) European Journal of Applied Physiology, 82 (1-2), pp. 91-97 Bishop, D., Bonetti, D., Dawson, B., The effect of three different warm-up intensities on kayak ergometer performance (2001) Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise, 33 (6), pp. 1026-1032 Bishop, D., Bonetti, D., Dawson, B., The influence of pacing strategy on VO2 and supramaximal kayak performance (2002) Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise, 34 (6), pp. 1041-1047 Bishop, D., Claudius, B., Effects of induced metabolic alkalosis on prolonged intermittent-sprint performance (2005) Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise, 37 (5), pp. 759-767. , DOI 10.1249/01.MSS.0000161803.44656.3C Bishop, D., Edge, J., Thomaz, C., Mercier, J., Effects of high-intensity training on muscle lactate transporters and postexercise recovery of muscle lactate and hydrogen ions in women (2008) American Journal Physiology Regulation and Comp Physiology, 295, pp. R1991-R1998. , Bethesda Bonen, A., Short-term training increases human muscle MCT1 and femoral venous lactate in relation to muscle lactate (1998) American Journal of Physiology- Endocrinology and Metabolism, 274 (1), pp. 102-107. , Bethesda Boneti, D., Hopkins, W.G., Kilding, A.E., High-intensity kayak performance after adaptation to intermittent hypoxia (2006) International Journal of Sports Physiology and Performance, 1, pp. 246-260. , Champaign Bonen, A., Lactate transporters (MCT proteins) in heart and skeletal muscles (2000) Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise, 32 (4), pp. 778-789 Bret, C., Messonnier, L., Nouck Nouck, J.M., Freund, H., Dufour, A.B., Lacour, J.R., Differences in lactate exchange and removal abilities in athletes specialised in different track running events (100 to 1500 m) (2003) International Journal of Sports Medicine, 24 (2), pp. 108-113. , DOI 10.1055/s-2003-38201 Cabrera, M.E., Saidel, G.M., Kalhan, S.C., Lactate metabolism during Exercise: Analysis by an integrative systems model (1999) American Journal Physiology Regulation and Comp Physiology, 277, pp. 1522-1536. , Bethesda Cairns, S.P., Lactic acid and exercise: Culprit or friend?
