Resumen
Social movements are not exactly a novelty brought by the contemporary world. Its existence goes back to the origin of the state, since the seed of social movements lies in the conflict between classes and political wills. It is in contemporary times, however, that one sees the exponential growth of these movements, fomented, in particular, by the emergence of the internet, social media and wireless communication. This set of virtual mechanisms creates the so-called "network society." Thus, this project has as its theoretical framework the work: "Networks of Indignation and Hope - Social Movements in the Internet Age", by the author Manuel Castells, the main thinker of networked societies. In this book, the author examines social movements, which emerged from June 2011 in the world, and which were responsible for the expansion of deliberative spaces and freedom of expression. Leading the discussion to national lands, it is a prism of the characteristics common to the social movements that have occurred in the last decades in the Country. From the movements of the year of 2013 until the paralyzations of the truck drivers in 2018, intending to identify the frequent and distant points of these social mobilizations. In addition, it seeks to understand the contribution or not of the characteristics that are raised in the local mobilizational phenomena, for the democratic process in Brazil. In this sense, the present research intends to answer if, such movements can achieve the intended, if at last effective.
