| dc.description | Os idosos constituem o grupo populacional de crescimento mais significativo em todo mundo. No Brasil esta realidade não é diferente, nos últimos anos houve uma significativa mudança na pirâmide populacional com estreitamento da base com a redução dos jovens e alargamento no topo com o aumento dos idosos. Esta inversão não pode ter necessariamente significado positivo, afinal viver mais não é sinônimo de viver com qualidade e satisfação. Embasados nesta temática foi realizado uma pesquisa qualitativa objetivando compreender os fatores associados à satisfação com a vida, em idosos, no município de Barreiras - BA. Como instrumento norteador foi solicitado ao entrevistado que relatasse, espontaneamente, sobre satisfação com a vida. Foram entrevistados, vinte e um idosos, escolhidos por conveniência, provenientes de classes socioeconômicas e culturais e idades diversificadas. Estas foram gravadas e registradas em mp3 e o conteúdo transcrito na íntegra. A análise dos dados foi realizada à luz da teoria fundamentada em dados (Grounded Theory) e representada através do Simbolismo Teórico. Os resultados estão representados na descrição de três fenômenos que consequentemente, dinâmico e mutuamente, se integraram e interrelacionaram ao longo da experiência vivida, no que tange à satisfação com a vida. Estes constituíram os vértices na base do tripé que convergiram para o que aparenta ser o sentido da satisfação com a vida, entre eles Elegendo as Relações de Afeto e Cumplicidade com a Família Amigos e Lazer; Encontrando a Felicidade na Vida, como a Construiu; Compreendendo as Condições de Saúde e as Necessidades da sua Prevenção como seus Determinantes. | dc.description | Worldwide the population group with the most significant recent growth is the elderly. This is no different in Brazil, where in recent years there has been noteworthy change in the population pyramid, narrowing at the base, with the reduction of the number of young people and a widening at the top with the increase of the elderly. This reversal does not always have a positive significance as a longe r life does not always equals to a life with quality and satisfaction. As an effect of this were carried out a study aiming to understand factors associated with life satisfaction in the elderly, as a symbolic meaning of the aging experience in Barreiras - BA. As a marker for directions a respondent was asked to report spontaneously on life satisfaction, Points raised would then determine subsequent questions elaborating on the subject. 21 senior citizens were chosen for convenience, from a various socio - economic, cultural backgrounds and age in order to balance the interviews. These were recorded and registered in mp3 and transcribed in full. Data analysis was performed according to grounded theory) and represented symbolically by Theory of Symbolism. Representation of the results obtained suggest an interactive process of three phenomena. These dynamic and mutually, if integrated, inter-related, phenomena constitute the vertices at the base of the tripod that converged to what appears to be a sense of satisfaction with life.
