ABSTRACT: The work of degree RESIGNIFICATION OF FAMILY MODELS IN THE CITY OF

Starting from the question: in what way the excesses of information, images and
individualism, generating sources of supermodernity -according to the proposal of
Marc Augé-, have brought about changes in the family structures that we
traditionally found in Medellín ?, we will use the Social anthropology, particularly
urban anthropology as a theoretical framework, including fieldwork and
bibliographic material, to answer it. I will try to support the analysis from the studies
that the Social Anthropology has done of the family in the last 80 years, and how
the concept of family has been built and deconstructing the swing of modernity, in
a specific context: the city.
