This study presents the pragmadiscursive elements of language that are involved in the process of transcultural adaptation of The Newest Vital Sign (NVS) instrument, used to measure the degree of health literacy of a population. At the same time, the research aims to identify the most relevant pragmatic information that is present in the application in virtual format and face to face of the NVS questionnaire. In addition, the work seeks to demonstrate the interdisciplinary nature of linguistic and discourse analysis, based on the description and analysis of the questionnaire validation process, considering in this process pragmadiscursive elements of language (Grice, HP; Hymes, D; Escandell MV; Gallardo Paul B; Wilson D and Sperber D). The study is descriptive, its approach is qualitative and considers two stages that order the methodological proposal of the work: 1) description and analysis of the validation process of the questionnaire and 2) application of the validated instrument to observe and record pragmatic and contextual information during Interviews with the subjects surveyed. Finally, it must be taken into account that this thesis is part of the FONIS SA15I20193 project titled Adaptation and validation of the New Vital Sign for Health Literacy (HL) instrument in chronic patients of Primary Health Care (PHC).
