dc.descriptionArterial hypertension and renal failure are diseases that directly affect people's health, and their risks are increasing. Renal failure is a well-known complication of accelerated and malignant hypertension that can be prevented with appropriate treatment. However, the risk of renal disease in patients with forms of hypertension is certain. The general objective of this study was to analyze arterial hypertension as a predisposing factor for renal failure in adults. The methodology employed was a systematic review design of articles in journals indexed in scientific databases in English and Spanish. According to the results, the most prevalent modifiable factors were determined to be obesity and overweight, followed by physical inactivity, salt consumption, alcohol intake, smoking and inadequate diet; among progression factors are diabetes mellitus and dyslipidemias, with the use of clinical laboratory diagnoses of glucose, cholesterol, proteinuria, creatinine, among others; in the progression of renal failure, the most affected are older adults, with a greater predominance in the male sex with stage III chronic kidney disease. In conclusion, arterial hypertension as a predisposing factor for renal failure is a pathology that affects older adults more frequently because they are more susceptible or prone to it due to the quality of life they led during their past years, which is why it is very opportune to carry out follow-up and control in people who suffer from these diseases.en-US
dc.descriptionLa hipertensión arterial y la insuficiencia renal son enfermedades que afectan directamente a la salud de los habitantes y que al padecerla los riesgos van cada vez más en aumento. La insuficiencia renal es una complicación bien conocida de la hipertensión acelerada y maligna que puede prevenirse con un tratamiento adecuado. No obstante, el riesgo de enfermedad renal en pacientes con formas de hipertensión es seguro. Este estudio tuvo como objetivo general analizar la hipertensión arterial como factor predisponente de insuficiencia renal en adultos. La metodología empleada fue un diseño de revisión sistemática de artículos en revistas indexadas en base de datos científicas, en idioma inglés y español. De acuerdo a los resultados, se determinó a los factores modificables con mayor prevalencia la obesidad y sobrepeso seguido de la inactividad física, consumo de sal, ingesta de alcohol, tabaquismo y una dieta inadecuada, entre factores progresión está la diabetes mellitus y dislipidemias, con el uso de diagnósticos de laboratorio clínico de glucosa, colesterol, proteinuria, creatinina, entre otras, en la progresión de insuficiencia renal los más afectados son adultos mayores presentando mayor predominio el sexo masculino con enfermedad renal crónica en estadio III. En conclusión, la hipertensión arterial como factor predisponente para insuficiencia renal, es una patología que afecta con mayor frecuencia a los adultos mayores debido a ser más susceptibles o propensos por la calidad de vida que llevaron durante sus años pasados, es por esto que, es muy oportuno efectuar seguimientos y control en las personas que padecen estas enfermedades.es-ES
