Resumen
Cecal intussusception is the invagination of the apex of the cecum towards its body or base and may protrude through the cecocolic orifice and enter the large colon. When we refer to cecocecal intussusception, we are referring to the invagination of the region from the apex into the body of the cecum. The etiology of this change, although not completely understood, includes changes in intestinal motility due to the presence and migration of endoparasites, intestinal inflammation and the use of parasympathomimetic drugs. The objective of this work is to report a case of acute abdomen due to loop ectopy and cecocecal intussusception in an eight-year-old Brazilian de Hipismo mare after administration of imidocarb dipropionate, which caused dysmotility in the large intestine. Due to clinical progression with pain, the patient required surgical intervention via median and posterior celiotomy, partial amputation of the cecum due to devitalization of the apex region and vascular complications. After a satisfactory postoperative evolution, the patient performs his athletic duties uneventfully.
