(UNAPAL: Abanico-75; Bolo verde y Dorado).
2019-B (Prueba I) y 0.6; 0.8; 1.0 y 1.2 en 2020-A (Prueba II).
(Texto tomado de la fuente) The research envolved the evaluation of the effect of the soil moisture regime, regarding
the yield, quality and physiological response of three pumpkin cultivars (UNAPAL: Abanico75; Bolo Verde and Dorado). Two tests were carried out, where 4 irrigation sheets were
applied based on the Kc of the crop: 0.4; 0.6; 0.8; 1.0 in semester 2019-B (Test I) and 0.6;
0.8; 1.0 and 1.2 in 2020-A (Test II). The treatments had 8 repetitions for a total of 96 plants
per-test. The statistical design was split plots, where the main plot was the irrigation
treatment and the subplot, the cultivars. It was found that the yield components (Fruits per
plant (FPP), average fruit weight (PPF), average production per plant (PPP), dry matter
(DM) and wall thickness (EP)) were significantly different (P< 0.01) by the irrigation regime,
positively associated with a higher Kc level (1.2). Total, starch and carotenoids in fruit pulp
were directly divergent, associated with water deficit consolidation. A higher number of
seeds per fruit was detected for the limited irrigation treatments, however, the unit weight
of seed expressed its highest figure with the highest irrigation regimen (Kc=1.2). The
primary physiological variables (Biomass, leaf area, number of stomata) showed a
significant increase (P<0.05) when the soil moisture regime was high. In contrast, the
biochemical variables and ion accumulation expressed their greatest potential when the
water deficit settled, being the cultivars UNAPAL Abanico-75 and Dorado those with the
best response under this situation. The degree of osmotic adjustment and the elasticity of
the cell walls suggest that UNAPAL Dorado and Abanico-75 present adaptation
mechanisms to water deficit, which outlines them as materials to be considered in a future
genetic improvement plan to face climate change.
