Resumen
This research aims with autoethnography, to describe the characteristics that prevail in the structuring of Hegemonic Masculinity (HM) in childhood-adolescence of young university students in Quito, through the narratives of their liminal experiences related to sexuality, to then identify how these experiences have been deconstructed in adulthood, giving way to the study of the transition of the MH towards a Counter-Hegemonic Masculinity (MCH), thus contributing to the study of new masculinities in the Ecuadorian context and to the promotion of gender equity. Some of the main characteristics of the CHM are: constant social validation, phallocentrism, androcentrism, objectification and sexualization of women, homosociality and homoeroticism, alcohol consumption, emotional and affective inhibition among men. As for the new masculinity, changes are evidenced such as: personal validation, conception of sex as a sexual practice of satisfaction and self-knowledge, new conception of women as subjects and not as objects, new affective relationships between men through physical contact as a vestige of homoerotic games and the search for meaningful relationships between men.
