Radicular fracture is a trauma injury that can occur at any age. The objective of this study
is to determine the management of root fractures in the permanent dentition. The methodology
applied in the research was to search for information in scientific articles published on web pages
and in books related to the subject. The results show that root fractures in the permanent
dentition are vertical and transverse; vertical fractures occur in the adult stage and in many cases
the affected tooth is extracted; on the other hand, transverse fractures can occur at any age and
are in the apical third, middle third and coronal third of the tooth. In these fractures, treatment
includes splinting, follow-up of the lesion during the healing and control stage, endodontic
treatment, and extraction. In conclusion, a good clinical and radiographic examination must be
performed because they can go unnoticed.
