This degree work consists of an analysis of the implementation of Sustainable Development in the main activities of the Ecuadorian agricultural sector in the period 2016 - 2020. The research focused on demonstrating the relationship between public spending and investment with the productivity of the agricultural sector, as well as determining the share of agricultural production in the total gross domestic product, and evaluating the legislative framework for sustainable development in the agricultural sector in Ecuador. The methodology used as a primary source is the compilation of data from the information registered in the Agricultural Public Information System (SIPA) and the National Institute of Statistics and Census (INEC), and as a secondary source, the Sustainable Development Objectives for the sector. As a result of the research, it is shown that sustainability has been present in the main activities of the Ecuadorian agricultural sector and that there is institutional support, but it is also evident that there are shortcomings that affect the quality of life in the rural sector. Therefore, a series of agricultural public policies for sustainability is proposed that will seek to solve the problems that the sector presents in terms of inequality, investment and technology, paying attention to increasing the levels of wellbeing of this population that is in vulnerable conditions
