Periodontal infections are the most prevalent and common conditions in dentistry, these periodontal pathologies include various alterations of bacterial origins, which attack the tissues of the periodontium. These are made up of gingival disease and periodontal diseases with their various systemic manifestations. The prevalence rate and severity of periodontal disease are different depending on the environmental factor, but one of the main factors will be oral hygiene. The general objective is to establish the importance of gram-negative periodontal pathogens in the appearance of systemic diseases. This research is bibliographic, descriptive, exploratory, and was carried out through a review of 60 scientific articles through various search engines such as Pubmed, Scielo, Google Scholar, Cochrame Library, Academic Google, Repository of Universities. As a result, it was found that diseases of systemic origin are related to periodontitis, they are caused by the underlying mechanisms associated with bacteria of Gram-negative origin such as P. gingivalis among others found in the oral microbiota. Some of the evidences that are epidemiologically associated in periodontitis with different diseases of systemic origin, describe the control of oral infections to reduce some complications of certain diseases. The conclusionwas that for decades it was believed that periodontal diseases were of bacterial origin, howeverit hasbeen shown that they are of multifactorialorigin taking into account the social environment of the host.
