Resumen
The diversification of generation sources inside of our energy mix, created the tendency of getting the energy sources and its consumers closer, providing greater resilience and versatility to the distribution networks. Microgrids emerges as a future possibility of integration between load and generation in power systems. Its uses and implementation still demand in-depth research. The protection scheme adopted in distribution networks was not conceived considering the presence of power generation in its vicinity and, therefore, the connection of microgrids causes some impacts on its operation. The goal of this research is to contextualize, characterize and define a microgrid, and evaluate, using computational methods, the behavior of the distribution network fuses in the presence of a phase to ground short circuit when a microgrid is connected to the network. A test distribution network and a microgrid were built using the PowerFactory software, and then different fault tests were performed to evaluate the behavior of the fuses. It is concluded that the presence of the microgrid causes the undue breaking of fuses at network distribution sites near the microgrid. Disconnection of the microgrid during a fault in the distribution network would prevent the fault from being fed by the microgrid.
