Resumen
This Electronic Engineering bachelor’s degree thesis presents the development of a DC-DC converter, boost topology, in order to be used as educational/instructional tool. The converter has been designed using low-cost electronic devices and its peripheral circuits are composed by an Atmega328/P microcontroller and Human-Machine Interface (HMI), which controls the system and allows a user to interact with the converter parameters, respectively. Therefore, this project requires a knowledge integration, especially in the power electronic and embedded system fields. The minimum and maximum efficiency values are 55.78 % and 90.24 % for resistive loads of 250 Ω to 1000 Ω, respectively. It is worth mentioning that the converter operates in both open and closed loop modes. Additionally, for safety reasons, the maximum output voltage value is limited to 100 V for a fixed voltage source of 20 V. In open loop mode, the user can select the cyclic ratio value from 5 % to 80 %. On the other hand, in the closed loop regime, the output voltage setpoint can be varied from 25 V to 100 V. The developed kit can be used as a teaching and researching tool by the students of the Federal University of Technology - Paraná, Toledo campus, in order to assist their accomplishment of practical activities.
