Resumen
This paper consists in a study of squirrel cage induction machine in order to evaluate its aplicability as generator, feeding isolated loads. For this it’s analysed the steady state of self-excited induction generator regarding frequency and voltage regulation, comparing this analysis to practical experimentation of two small power machines. Furthermore, considering a induction machine driven at constant speed, it’s implemented a switched- capacitor voltage regulator. This device allows the induction generator operate from no load to maximum power condition with limited variation of steady steady voltage . However, the system is functional for resistive loads and its performance is degraded when considered inductive loads.
