Resumen
Knowing the failures’ history and stratifying their origins is fundamental to taking action to eliminate them in a production process. The quest for increased reliability and availability is a constant challenge for maintenance and operation teams in an company. Life Data analysis of components or systems is a methodology that allows an evaluation to understand the life behavior of the asset. This work uses this method on a critical component of a Secondary Refining in Steelmaking, the oxygen’s lance nozzle at ArcelorMittal Tubarão Vacuum Degasser 2. The high criticality of this item occurs because its failure can impact the safety of people, as well as the impact on operational availability of the operating station. After analysis and joining of historical failure data, evaluations are performed using Weibull ++ software, identifying the current reliability of the system in a quantitative way and its characteristic failure’s curves. The result allows to identify the current level of reliability of the component, indicating the need for maintenance actions and implementation of improvements for its consequent increase, in alignment with the company's maintenance strategy, which it has been adopted. Since then, a considerable increase in component reliability and a reduction in operating losses have been noted.
