Resumen
This work presents an analysis of the use of supercapacitors to minimize short term intermittencies in photovoltaic generation caused by rapid cloud transitions. A theoretical review of the subjects and elements used in the development of the paper is presented, covering the use of solar energy and the effects of varying solar irradiance, utilization of photovoltaic energy, photovoltaic systems and cells, and static power converters. This is followed by a design of a conventional photovoltaic generation system and its behavior is analyzed in a simulation environment. A theoretical overview of energy storage systems with a focus on supercapacitors is presented along with a strategy for intermittency reduction using supercapacitors. Next, the setup for the use of supercapacitors with a static converter is presented, along with a power management approach for intermittency reduction. The proposed structure is then analyzed through computer simulations and, based on the results obtained, it was possible to evaluate its viability for intermittency reduction in photovoltaic generation.
