Resumen
The present study aimed to propose the implementation of an environmental management tool for small companies of manufacturing segment of electromedical and electrotherapeutic appliances and irradiation equipment. To develop this tool, three visits were held in a company in the city of Campo Mourao - PR active in the segment mentioned above. In the visits were raised information about the production process and the technical service performed, as well as information on environmental management, water and energy consumption, disposal of liquid and gaseous effluents and the generated solid waste were identified and quantified. The results showed that even the company being small, it was possible to identify the presence of environmental licensing, solid waste management program and specialized company hiring for disposal of chemicals and electronic components generated in their activities. The generation of gaseous emissions and liquid effluents produced were not objects of study of this work, however, it was verified that the effluents come from the use of toilets, and were sent to the municipal sewage system. Regarding the generated solid waste, it was difficult to quantify residues produced due to the variation occurred in production and technical services performed, a typical characteristic of small enterprises. However, it was possible to verify that solid waste generated in larger quantities were paper, cardboard, metals and plastics. The monthly consumption average of energy and water were, respectively, 1311 kWh and 10 m³. With this information, the likely significant environmental impacts of the company were identified, namely: soil contamination, contamination of surface and ground water, shortening the operating life of the landfill, reduced water availability and reduced availability of natural resources. For each aforementioned impact, it was elaborated an environmental management program, containing mitigating actions and deadlines to execute them as well as environmental performance indicators, based on the ISO 14031: 2004, to monitor the effectiveness of the proposed actions and the program. Thus, this study proposed an environmental management program that can be used in any venture that is small sized and acts in manufacturing segment of electromedical and electrotherapeutic apparatus and irradiation equipment, making adjustments when necessary.
