Resumen
This paper proposes the design of a fixing device to be used during the flexo-torsional tests and the execution of this tests on the femoral stem to be used in a hip implant. This femoral stem was made of composite material produced by polyurethane derived from castor oil reinforced with glass fiber in different weights and the femoral stem was positioned based on the standards ABNT NBR ISO 7206-4 and ABNT NBR ISO 7206-6. To ensure the correct positioning of the steams according to the standard, the fixing of the stems was made in PVC tubes filled with concrete, and it was positioned using two different molds made in a 3D printer. After the fixing of the femoral stems confers the positioning of the stems using a microscope in order to verify if the angles and the
distances follow the standards mentioned above. Also, in order to optimize the manufacturing process and improve the volumetric fraction of fiber and matrix, this work proposes a mold for manufacturing multiple stems simultaneously. The obtained results are arranged in the section Results and Discussion.
