Resumen
The dynamism and rapid changes in the context in which organizations are inserted are protagonists in the XXI century scenario. In this context, adaptability has become a key virtue to ensure the longterm survival of companies. To this end, trends such as the adoption of more flexible, democratic and horizontal organizational forms have increased their space in the way managers structure the organization for which they are responsible. However, even though they are also part of this context, construction companies still tend to have centralized structure and high levels of formalization. Thus, this study aims to describe the organization structure of some constructions companies in Curitiba based on the theory of organizational structure in five configurations by Henry Mintzberg. Focused on the coordination components, key parts of the organization, centralization and decentralization. The methodological proposal for the development of this research consists in the analysis of the data referring to the coordination systems, work dynamics, organizational hierarchy, centralization and decentralization and decision making regarding the construction companies contemplated in this study, based on the Organizational Structure theory in Five by Henry Mintzberg (2009). The data for the development of this study was collected through the application of an online questionnaire through the Google Forms platform. From the analysis it was possible to describe the organizational structure of Curitiba’s construction companies studied regarding the predominance of the coordination system, hierarchy of authority, centralization and decentralization, structure for decision making, among other organizational characteristics.
