Resumen
This paper proposes a comparison between the performances of different control techniques applied to DC-DC converters. The performances of designed controllers from the theories of modern and classical control are compared. The comparisons are performed by means of the controllers Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID),
Proportional-Integral (PI), H2 and H∞ constraint based on LMI's. The controllers design are performed from the linearized small signal models (CA) considering two dc-dc converters: a step-down voltage (Buck converter) and a step-up voltage (Boost converter). The linearized model allows evaluating the stability and performance of the converters operating in conjunction with the designed controller. The designed controllers by means of the classical control theory determines a gain to compensate the system based on operation point, already the designed controllers by means of the modern control theory consider polytopic uncertainties present in the system, such
as variations in the input voltage, load steps and uncertainty in duty cycle. The comparisons of the controllers performances are realized by computer simulations by means of the MATLAB / SIMULINK® software.
