The present research developed in "El Toro" Mine shows a decrease in productivity in
the hauling system during the night shift, due to lack of road lighting. Therefore, it was
proposed to increase productivity in the haulage cycle by illuminating 1.1 km of the
main perimeter road. The parameters of the August cycle are to be determined for the
month of August, with the route from bank 3212 to the North dump phase 07, being
divided into three sections. For the month of September, the number of LED
luminaires required in the section Oval N°4 – Oval N°3 was determined and the cycle
parameters were determined with a section of illuminated road. The results obtained
show that the speed on the illuminated section increased by 14.77%, affecting the total
haul cycle by 5%; the ton/hr production is increased and the C/U of haulage is reduced,
presenting a monthly saving of US$ 9,909. 00, in the least favorable scenario; likewise,
1 unit in the hauling fleet is reduced, generating monthly savings of US$ 15,000.00;
the luminaire investment will be recovered in 2.96 months and with an estimated useful
life of 5 years, an additional economic benefit of US$ 1,373,836.88 is obtained,
concluding that the lighting increases the productivity of the hauling cycle.
