Resumen
Background: The intrapartum hemorrhage is a common complication and sometimes life-threatening, so it is crucial to investigate safe options of friendly use, cost-effective in preventing this disease, such as tranexamic acid, an antifibrinolytic widely used to prevent and treat hemorrhage in patients under delivey.
Methods: the objective is to evaluate the efficacy of tranexamic acid to decrees the bleeding in the delivery. There was performed a clinic study, randomized, double blind. There were two groups conformed: one group receive 0.5gr of tranexamic acid and one control group. Each group had 58 participants. It was evaluated the volume of bleeding using the retrosacral bag according to the volume of blood.
Results: the patients mean age was 24 years. We found a mean volume of blood in the group of patients who receive tranexamic acid 191.03 (IC: 163.9 – 218.1), and in the control group 236.72 ml (204.7 – 268.7), there were three patients with 500 ml of loss of blood.
Conclusions: it is evident that tranexamic acid is better that placebo to control the loss of blood especially to volumes less than 300 ml. it was not necessary to perform transfusions due to hemodynamic instability.
