dc.description.abstractThis study analyzes the effects of a corporate policy of providing a medical assistance coverage on labor absenteeism in the Empresa Eléctrica Regional Centro SUR C.A. (EERCS); this policy provides medical assistance coverage only to "Obreros" (group with higher risk activities), while the group called "Servidores" does not have this benefit. By using a Probit Regression on Panel Data, we intend to determine whether providing health care coverage to "Obreros" reduces absenteeism, thus becoming an investment in human capital, thus improving productivity (O'Brien, 2003). The research presents valuable empirical evidence, finding that, there is not enough evidence to indicate that providing health care coverage to workers leads to a decrease in absenteeism there is not enough evidence to indicate that providing health care coverage to workers leads to a decrease in absenteeism, allowing to reflect on the need to reformulate or extend this policy to the members of the organization.
